dc!!!

rebekah and joshua have off school today - teacher work day.
i wanted a fun day with my kids...just me and them.
so, after the gym we went into dc!
today is supposed to be cleaning day...but i'm ignoring that.
1 week won't make that big of a difference, right??

i hardly ever think to go into dc...but there is SO much to do there!

so fun to see my kids running down the sidewalk of our nation's capitol!

we went to the National Museum of American History.
they've redone parts of it recently so it's more interactive.
which equals more fun for little kids :-)

this was sawyer's favorite...

of course bailey went for this :-)
but when asked what her favorite part was, she answered,
"the glittery red dress" {from the first ladies' exhibit}

a home from the 1950's.
they called them, "wife-planned" :-)

julia child's kitchen was also there!

this was joshua's favorite part...the planes and cars throughout american history

sawyer couldn't get enough of looking at this truck

we had one of those vans when i was a kid.
mom...is that ours?? :-)

rebekah's favorite part was the american flag.
the actual one that inspired Francis Scott Key to write the National Anthem.
brought a lump to your throat and tears to your eyes...wow...

what a fun adventure!

enough playing...have to clean up a bit for a meeting i'm hosting tonight.
and make a dessert.
and our fun stir-fry for the beginning of our valentine fortune cookies :-)

were you the ONLY ones in DC today? Looks like you had the place to yourselves? That's the best - I LOVE going downtown...SO much to see and do! And I'm with Bailey - I always love seeing the first ladies' dresses...but i'm DYING to see Julia Child's kitchen!!! :)

Wow you are brave going down there by yourself with the kids, not that I haven't done adventures with my 4 but DC is a big one. I hope you guys enjoyed it.
