soaking them up

vacation is so fun. but the "normal" days are so sweet...

i think i spent more time on the floor, ENGAGED with my kids in the day following vacation than i did the entire week away! a lot of that was the amazing granparents and aunt/uncles that were around to love on them! and, how can boring mom compare to all that? i faded into the background...

but here at home? i'm front and center :-) every minute. "hey, mom!" "hey, mom?" .....

this is baileys favorite game. and i actually like it. so we are playing it a lot!

joshua and sawyer got out EVERY car we own. divided them up into 2 "teams" and raced them to find the FASTEST CAR IN THE HOUSE. i LOVED that joshua instigated it and sawyer could NOT have been happier.
sunday afternoon bike ride while pat played tennis with a friend. the weather has been so nice lately! warm but not HOT.
took sawyer's training wheels off his bike at 7 pm last night. completely on a whim. he was already in his pj's! he did great!!! that is HUGE. he is a pretty fearful little boy, but he was so determined and brave!
i admit to thinking, "when is school starting?" a couple times a day. but i try not to dwell on it and to change my mindset. i know these days truly are sweet and SO much simpler than the very complicated school days. i'd be lying if i didn't admit to YEARNING for the quiet hour i will have every day - i can't WAIT to write - i feel all bottled up inside not really being able to write/process much at all this summer. but it will come. aren't you excited? :-)

until then, i am going to try my best (that's all i can do!) to enjoy these moments. to TEACH them through the hard ones. and to savor the sweet ones.
