gingerbread houses

i mean, does his smile say it all or what?!?
this is how we did them this year. they each did one (except levi). we used little orange juice boxes (they got to drink them the day before - that was the HUGEST treat for them!)

i constructed the houses the day before. all they had to do was put the candy on.
it was fun and not stressful and not frustrating.

sawyer and lincoln each had individual bowls with ALL the candy they could use in theirs.

the other kids shared the rest of the candy.
there was some silliness and dancing :-)
we put the houses on the top of the piano. pat said it wasn't the best idea since levi would be able to climb up to get to them.

except...it's the BEST idea! he can't get to them without PLAYING the piano! so, from anywhere in the house i can hear him making his way to the candy. after a few times (ok. a lot of times. he's a stubborn kid!) of "dealing" with that, he no longer climbs up and gets the candy :-)

I love this idea!!! And then you have a little village to go with your nativity. :)

I am finding it difficult to keep E away from the "nandy house"s, too. Yours all turned out super cute and glad it was more fun than stress:)

great idea, the logistics of these activities can be so frustrating, messy and annoying. you are such a good example for pushing through and not giving up even when it's hard with all the little people...
