the school stuff

so, in the midst of all our adventures the last week of summer, we also had all these SCHOOL events to go to. with 3 kids entering new (to them) schools, there were even more than usual. AND my kids are in 3 schools. it kinda made me crazy. and was totally cramping our summer style, but we checked them all off...

one day joshua got to go get his locker combination and find his locker. just me, rebekah and joshua went. he ASKED her to come. i thought that was the cutest!

she helped him put a locker shelf in. i just sat back and watched. she took over and he let her.
he opened it on his own a few times. and we were good to go!
this has nothing to do with school. but he was too cute to leave out. bailey had to run 3 miles for her chores. and sawyer wanted to run with her. he walked back in the door like this, big smile and his shirt wrapped around his neck. did you know i love him?? ;-) he LOVES running...yay!!
if you build it, they will come. it's true. the last week of summer, as SOON as we pulled in the driveway, friends were knocking on our door, hanging out in our yard and porch and eating all our food. i loved it. (ok. most of the time.)

last night of kids making meals...joshua's turn. we squeezed it in in the nick of time! he did a menu like bailey did.
and then i had to go up to the school for back to school night (BEFORE school started. i kinda like it that way!) a friend was walking by on her way up to the school and we were finishing up dinner (i was "fashionable late" to the event... ;-)) and snapped this picture of us. i love them.
and i came back from that night with THIS stack of paperwork. that was NOT fun and i did not love that. ugh!
friday was the open house at the elementary school. where the kids get to meet their teachers. there were nerves all around. lincoln going back to school...levi starting school...we were all on edge. then, when i got to the first classroom, i realized that the school supply kits that i thought i had ordered for the 4 of them, weren't there. i don't know what happened, but they didn't get ordered. so i spent the rest of the day (and into the next week!) getting all their school supplies when most of them were sold out (so going to a TON of stores.) it was NOT a good way to end the week...ugh!!

but on a FUN note, levi's kindergarten teacher had ALL of my kids for kindergarten!! isn't that amazing!? we love Mrs. Dailey!!
it was quite the week. between our adventures and all the getting ready for school stuff, we couldn't have squeezed anything else in. i guess we're ready for school to start...
