when the guy showed up yesterday morning i wanted to HUG him. i didn't. but he could tell i was pretty happy to see him!
we had no heat from thursday morning-tuesday at 3 pm.
i really really tried to not complain. and we spun it as an adventure with the kids, "it's like camping for 5 days IN OUR HOUSE!" but it was hard. it gave us all perspective. i'm not sure we'll ever take having heat for granted again. it makes you not be able to do ANYthing besides keep warm. all the other "to do's" aren't important.
the 3 worst daily tasks if you don't have heat:
1. sitting on the toilet seat that is FREEZING
2. getting out of the shower into the COLD air
3. getting into freezing cold sheets at night
using heaters and blankets and layers of clothes, we were able to stay in our house. lots of people thought we were crazy. but it was a good lesson and experience for us all. and we remained super blessed - i mean, we had the money to buy 2 more heaters and we had drawers full of clothes to wear!
it was in the 50's in our house during the day, in the 40's at night (brr!)
i don't think we've ever been so excited to go to church on sunday morning! just to get WARM!
it's over. we have heat. and we are ALL so thankful!

I can't imagine going that long...we came home to no heat after Thanksgiving and it was so COLD sitting on the toilet!
I would not have lasted that long. So glad it's up and running again.
