politicians

about a month ago, both joshua and bailey brought home a sheet of paper from school about the upcoming student council elections. and they both wanted to run!

i was shocked.

but told them they could, as long as they did all the pieces they had to do for it. i'm not into doing that stuff for my kids.

they filled out the application. turned it in. then there was an election in each classroom to bring the candidates down to 1 candidate for each position from each class. they both won the election in their class.

joshua was running for vice president...
 and bailey was running for spirit coordinator...
 they had to make those posters. they hung in the school for a week. then they had to write a speech and give it in front of their whole grade!

the morning of the speeches (which was yesterday). they were so so so nervous.
{does bailey look like someone you might recognize??? hint...her birthday present...i surprised her with it the day before - thought it might make her a little less nervous. i wasn't about to buy the REAL thing - this was a clearance old navy dress and boots from target - i looked high and low for the perfect combo! it's the only outfit that she LOVES that isn't pink :-)}
 bailey speech was in the morning..

 she did GREAT!!!!

my mom came for the day..it was so nice to have her there, too!

back in the afternoon for joshua's speech...

 he did so great, also.
the kids went back to their classrooms and voted. they announced the results today. as i was waiting at school pickup i had no idea how my kids were going to come out - would 1 win and not the other? both lose and be sad? both win and we get to celebrate?? i was a wreck! :-)

they both lost. bailey bawled her eyes out as soon as she saw me, head in my legs for a good couple minutes. joshua was disappointed in his "joshua" way. but said, "i'm going to keep running until i win." {he also ran last year. and lost.} wow. that amazes me! especially from him! but i love it.

i'm so so proud of them for doing it, for being brave and taking something like that on.
