awesome weekend.
trying to get a jumpstart on the week by having this here blog up to date as i head to my pillow.
here we go...
friday night got to spend the evening with my siblings and our spouses at my brother's new house. it was a beautiful night in many ways. many. many. loved it.
i always run long on saturday mornings. like, i maybe don't run long no more than 5 saturdays a year. it's mostly for my mental health. it used to be so i could eat whatever i wanted that day. not any more. at the moment i am training for a race...but that's rare. ANYways. i went out with the goal of just running 12 miles. easy pace. no "time goal". well, 5 miles into it, i looked at my watch and my pace was fast-ish. so...i decided to try to do a half-marathon in under 2 hours. and i did!! i have NO idea how it was so easy for me that morning. i barely slept (went to bed late, woke up a ton of times...), definitely didn't drink enough water on friday, ate and drank nothing before or during the run. weird, for sure. and who knows if i'll be able to do it on nov 16 (when it counts!) but it's nice to know i can do it! (my avg pace was 8:55 - that lap pace shows what i was doing when i stopped by watch)
walked in the door at 8:20 am. showered, ate and was at joshua's football game at 9 am. no. i never stretch :/ not good, i know.
ok. this is so fun. i was JUST getting my camera settings figured out. and was shooting this play...ball about to be hiked...
thrown. to joshua. he CATCHES it over his shoulder (#2)
and runs it in for a touchdown!!
happy little man!
both sets of grandparents came to watch the games on saturday!
what a GIFT it is to have them close by to do this!!
next up - lincoln's soccer game! SO fun to cheer him on! it's been amazing to watch him. at his first practice, he had NO clue what was going on...unlike sawyer and levi - who are always watching sports and love them, lincoln doesn't. he's just not interested. but he picks things up so quickly!
i still don't know if he LIKES it. but he seems excited to go to practice and games and stuff. and, if nothing else, there's a snack at the end! :-)
it was SUCH a beautiful day!
CRAZY hair! but a fun picture my mom caught of me taking pictures of lincoln's game :-)
next up - sawyer! this dude is in HEAVEN playing a sport finally. when i walked in from my run at 8 am, he had his whole uniform on - cleats, shinguards. the whole thing. his game was at 12:30! :-)
i mean...
a rare few minutes we were next to each other during the day. he got there late after taking joshua to his other football game. and we went separate ways after the game was over. i write out a list in 15 minute increments of where we both need to be for the day...and we both have a copy! it's crazy!
cheering squad.
serious business!
had a couple hours to do chores and then went to friends' house for dinner. it's always very brave of others to invite our family over! :-)
bailey and i were both wearing words on our shirts.
mine: be the change you want to see in the world
her: think happy thoughts
ok. this is slightly embarrassing. but here we go. i walked downstairs on sunday morning and bailey SQUEALED, "mom! you're SAIGE!" apparently i was dressed like her doll :-) so we had to take a picture, of course!
went apple picking sunday afternoon.
joshua always with a football in his hand.
over the river and through the woods...to the apple trees we go!
it was another beautiful day. i was struggling a bit...not feeling well, but i think we all had fun?
dude climbed up there in 2 seconds. had to get to the FOOD!
for the record. she IS amazing. but the "teenage" attitudes about killed me this weekend. just saying...
and we survived the weekend. :-) got home to a text from my daughter. with this picture. i love it. because i LOVE walking through this life with him at my side. {and when did i get old enough to have a daughter that can TEXT me pictures?? it's pretty fun, though!}
in all honesty, i kind of look forward to monday. it should be more restful than the weekend. kinda backward, huh?? :-)

Love it all - can't wait to get our apples - my bday is next Sat - maybe I will make everyone go with me on Sat after our games and pick apples. :)
What race are you training for? Wayne does his long runs on Sat too - when a game doesn't interfere (and sometimes even if it does) - cheaper than therapy as the saying goes...
what a great weekend! and my girlfriend and I were just talking at preschool drop off this morning- about how the weeks are a bit easier- or at least a bit more predictable than the weekends.
so impressed by your speed.
love your "Saige" look.
glad you could see the positives in all that busyness ;)
