the weekly craft project that took all summer

we did a couple craft projects this summer. and i haven't shared this one yet. because it basically took all summer :-)

we started it in june and i just hung them up this week. but we took our time and enjoyed every step and i could NOT love them more.
every kid made a canvas with a sun and a word on it (levi and i did ours together :-))
i stole the idea from here.

day 1. june 2013. we painted our canvases with blue and left a half-circle for the sun.

lincoln was telling a fun story! :-)

i really, REALLY let them do it themselves. and i LOVED how different they turned out!
then we went to south carolina and atlanta and did swim team every day of our lives.

day 2. july 2013. painting the sun and gluing on the sun's rays.

i cut up a bunch of scrapbook paper and threw it on table. my computer is there because i showed them the post that we were copying...

then we went to myrtle beach and had the best time of our lives!

day 3. august 2013. i modpodged over the whole thing. then they (or i did for the younger ones) painted a word on. they got to choose the word.
i am just realizing that each of the 3 days we were in different working locations - driveway, inside table, outside table :-) that's fun!

some also added some finishing touches if they wanted.
then we went to ocean isle, north carolina with our favorite people in the world. and started school.

and the canvases sat in a pile on my work area. i wasn't sure what i was going to do with them...put them in their rooms? bathroom? i didn't have a plan. and then i was walking through this room and realized the colors were PERFECT! oh, it made me SO happy!
these 2 rooms are my favorite rooms in the house. i just feel like they are "me." my colors, my style (practical yet fun). i LOVE them. and hanging these canvases in there was just perfect.
in order from top to bottom:
levi's (and mine)
rebekah
lincoln
top to bottom:
sawyer
bailey (i love how her's is the "different-est" of all of them - of course!)
joshua
and just one more shot of them all. :-)

{next up is that red vase that is front and center. it might be even MORE perfect and MORE precious than the canvases after the summer we spent with it! :-)}
