water

it appears that, in the beginning, the earth was ALL water. before light even. before sky. before land.

i have to believe that God NEVER intended for approximately 780 million people on this earth to lack access to clean drinking water. that is 2 1/2 times the population of the United States.

water.

so clean. so free (to most people able to read this!) so LIFE giving.

but if you don't have it? you cannot survive. period.

there are MANY organizations out there that are doing amazing things to fight this problem. for years now, my heart has ACHED with the simplicity of the solution to this issue. IF WE GIVE to those that have done the research, are on the ground doing the work...IT CAN BE SOLVED!

TODAY IS WORLD WATER DAY!!!!

in my friend, mandy's words:
this year, the adventure project is teaming with water for people to launch a new water system in the Kyenjojo district of Uganda.   this system includes: a well for at least 250 people in a village, a job for a caretaker to collect and sell water and a trained mechanic nearby.  the cost to implement a water system like this is, five thousand dollars.
this type of system has never been done in africa before, if it works in uganda, it can be replicated across the entire continent.
the adventure project is raising money to install 30 of these super well systems in uganda.
go to HER blog to take part in a FUN raffle that is CLOSE to raising $5000 for a new water system!!!
if you don't want to be a part of the raffle, then just go donate to jody's page. :-) it's all going to the same place in the end! (and is all tax deductible!!)
the adventure project is the REAL deal. they aren't just throwing money at problems. they are THERE. creating jobs for the people so that it provides dignity and sustains them for YEARS.
i just love to see those numbers rise...and know that water will be flowing because of it!

Love this! Some good friends of our here work for an organization called Friends In Action where they go out and drill new wells for people in villages all over the country. When you see up close the effect that this has on peoples lives you can never look at water the same. Thanks for sharing this!
