ice day

i woke up and headed out the door to run yesterday morning like i do most mornings. it was ICY! i was alone - none of my running group was stupid enough to come out. but i still ran. once i got off the neighborhood road and onto the main road, they were fine (since they had been treated) and i ended up running a pretty fast 4.5 miles.

got home and was talking to pat. he said something along the lines of, "looks like you get the kids all day today!" um. what?!? school was CANCELLED! i was expecting a delay...but cancelled? took a little bit of time for me to switch gears, but thankfully they were all still sleeping, so i had the time.

they were happy :-)
we spent the morning doing school projects, making their valentine's and valentine boxes, working on bailey's "top dog" stuff for the week (she's top dog! and SUPER excited about it!)
during the little boys rest time, we watched The Karate Kid (the ORIGINAL one). i have NO idea how many times i watched this movie as a kid. my 2 brothers were 2 and 5 years younger than me and it just must have been the perfect time for the movie to have come out for them. we watched it A LOT. and i LOVE it. well, i thought we bought it for joshua 2 christmases ago, but mistakenly bought the newer version (that i've never seen, nor have a desire to). so, THIS christmas we bought him the old one and FINALLY watched it yesterday! it is SUCH a great movie!
and the rest of the day there was LOTS of karate going on! :-)
they almost immediately lost their shirts?? made it that much cuter :-)
levi had his arm like that the WHOLE evening.

ended our day with a HOPE (our church's orphan care and adoption ministry) meeting that ALWAYS blessed us. we are excited for the things God might have for that group, and our church, this year!
