Easter 2012

to be honest, it was a weird day for me.

it was a day of celebration..JOY...He is risen!!!

but i was also sad. i didn't want Lent to be over. there was fear about it ending. not sure why??

spending the morning with 40ish babies (that were SO cute/adorable!) instead of in the service probably didn't help...

i just felt "off".

we went to lunch after church so i could get a diet coke and french fries! it was good. but not as sweet as i hoped.

pat took a picture of my first sip in 46 days!

{my dad says i smile with my eyes. i see it here...}

my God is sweeter than anything on this earth. amen??!!

we were going to have a BIG egghunt later with friends, so we just hid the 12 resurrection eggs. each kid got to find 2.

we went through what each one meant, one at a time. you got to go over to dad when it was your turn :-)
notice levi in this picture......

2 minutes later...he fell asleep! sitting up! i think pat's voice talking, talking, talking, lulled him to sleep! :-)
this was a really sweet time. hearing my husband and kids talk through the Easter story. the LOVE. the miracles. the grace. the truth.

this is as close as i got to an "easter family picture". it just didn't feel right. i DID pick out their outfits instead of letting them pick them (but NOTHING new was bought).

WHY...HOW has Easter become about cutesy/matching outfits and candy and bunnies?!? i KNOW it's fun. and (come on! you're talking to ME here!) i LOVE family pictures!!!! but it's SO not where our hearts should be....

{i know. can you tell i was totally weird yesterday?? hang with me...it does get better! WAY better!!!}
but first, let's have some quiet/rest time....

Awwwww....the last picture is precious.....Levi's little hand in Pat's. Understand that you were reluctant to "let Lent go". It was good. It was deep. You CAN still stay there. He is with you always. LOVED your sip of Diet Coke! :) Wonderful pictures.

Love Levi falling asleep. So precious. We didn't buy new outfits either. Well I bought Julia a new dress, but she went with jeans and a blouse, and I was ok with it. She can wear the dress all summer long.

We never buy new outfits. It's just so...I don't know. The kids wear it once and that's it. And Lindsey won't be caught dead in a dress so jeans and a nice sweater it was. At least it wasn't a softball shirt :) I cracked up at your being with 40 babies...I have worked more Easters in the nursery/Sunday School than I've heard Mike's messages on Easter over the last 16 years at RBC. It just seems like the right time to let those who don't come but once a year have my seat since it's always so crowded. However, yesterday was the first time I've actually not worked Easter Sunday school/nursery in a long time. Mike's message was awesome... as believers it was stuff we know, but the message was definitely a good one to use when witnessing to those who "don't do church." Glad you got your Diet Coke...I gave it up for Lent when I was a practicing Catholic growing up and got myself a Big Gulp from 7-11 BEFORE church on Easter. Just couldn't wait any longer. I'm impressed you waited until AFTER church! And really, how cute is Levi??? Precious pic of him falling asleep snuggled next to Pat. BTW, Kyle has awful allergies, too. His eyes were oozing today after being on the playground for 40 minutes or so. I just hate this time of year for him and I know you feel that way about Bailey, too.. Hope you have a good week!

Oh and my kids still love the Resurrection Eggs. I don't think they will ever get tired of them. Such a great concept and a great way to review the Easter Story.
