haiti

you've been patient. those that have been waiting to hear about pat's trip to haiti.
it's kind of weird for me to post about it. i wasn't there. i didn't see it firsthand. and there is also some unknown about where God is leading us in this.
we got together with the HOPE group (the orphan care and adoption ministry) this past saturday night and talked for close to 6 hours. we are EXCITED! and hopeful. and prayerful.
so, the trip.

i was impressed with the amount of pictures and video they took!

pat went with 3 other guys. 1 of them has been to this particular city/orphanage many times. he was invaluable to them.

i guess i would say their purpose was two-fold. one was to get to know the pastor that runs the orphanage (and church and school and sewing center that are all on the same compound) and encourage and provide for him in small ways. second was to try to gain information to determine if we (as a church) could possibly come alongside them to help them in a more long-term way.

{they climbed a mountain!}
they came home SO encouraged. and excited. the pastor there is SUCH a humble, Godly man and they were SO blessed by spending time with him. the children's hearts and understanding of who Christ is is the MOST important thing to him. this was made clear numerous times. they are very poor, but rich in knowing God.

{the market}

 {spices}
{the pharmacy}

they were so well taken care of. fed. beds.
our team with the pastor and his wife. they are truly living out James 1:27 - caring for widows in the community and orphans that come into their path with all they have. the Lord provides for them everyday.
 3 brothers
 where the children live
the plane they flew into the city (over mountains) on...

we are praying for God's clear direction from here. {NO, we are NOT adopting!}
we are thankful to have many that are wise alongside us...praying with us, thinking and talking it through with us.

we are excited to see what God has in store! we won't push our way in with our own agenda's. we will wait for Him to lead us.

thank you for your prayers for him while he was gone. i was VERY fearful that he wasn't going to come home. and that fear surprised me...but God used it mightily...my faith grew. and i'm SO SO thankful he DID come home! :-)

awesome!
(btw...that 'fear of him not coming home'...I don't know a military spouse who couldn't relate to that one - after a deadly crash in one of Jake's planes he used to fly I used to go up to the roof near the runways and just watch him LAND...and then go home, I didn't need to talk to him or touch him, just needed to see him land - weird fear, isn't it?)

i'm really really really really really really really excited to follow this.

It's fun to watch Pat be Pat. And your grace showed as you care for all those people at home while he's gone-- teamwork. Beautiful, valuable teamwork.

=)
