valentine's day??

i used to say i wasn't "into" valentine's day.

really. i just don't like roses. AT.ALL. and that's what you typically get on valentine's day.

the last few years, we've focused on LOVE during february and, well, what's not to love about that?!? i'm learning to be into it more and more! not for the consumer-type, chocolate-eating, card-buying thing that it's grown into, but for learning how to love. (ok, ok....i'll take some chocolate ;-))

i know it's early. but, for my second idea you kind of need a headstart...

first up, i made these pillows a couple years ago. they go on each person's bed. there is a pocket in them. you can leave "love notes" in someone's pocket whenever you want! it's fun! and they actually do it! if you don't sew, there are all kinds of ideas like this - using little mailboxes, or you could even decorate a shoebox!
the tutorial for this is here. you make a "fortune" (really it's a proverb or something wonderful about that person) for each child (and your husband!!) for every day. we open them at dinner each night. it takes awhile to come up with 14 x 7 (for me - 6 kids plus pat) fortunes! i need to get started! but they love it.
we also read 1 Corinthians 13 each night at dinner. how i would love it if we MEMORIZED it!

ok. back to january...sorry!
