sorry for not posting yesterday.
i had one of those headaches you get after you sob your eyes/heart out for 2 hours straight because i sobbed my eyes/heart out for 2 hours straight from the minute i woke up.
i was just TIRED of my foot hurting and didn't want to deal with it ANY.MORE!
here's the story:
i went to the dr yesterday.
i have a broken bone in the ball of my left foot.
it will take 4-6 weeks to heal.
i'm supposed to stay off my feet as much as possible.
i have "special shoes" to wear.
i can swim and bike.
it KILLS. the doctor validated this by saying, "this is a VERY painful injury!" and gave me a prescription for pain medication. i hate pain medication. even ibuprofen. but i've LIVED off ibuprofen this past week. i might fill it just to take before i go to bed. i haven't slept for over a week. the pain is SO bad at night. the weight of the sheets on my foot hurts a lot.
i was feeling like a wimp, this made me feel a little better about how much the pain is effecting me.
i'm sad. disappointed. but ok.
because of my whole hip injury last year, i know i'll survive not running for 6 weeks.
i know once i do, it will be possible to get back into running "shape" again (although the process is brutal...)
it could be worse.
the pain is hard to deal with right now. constant, dull pain in my foot.
it makes me cranky and unkind.
i hate that.
i hope the pain part subsides soon...
the doctor gave me 2 choices for footwear:
this -
or this:
{those sketchers shoes that i've made fun of since they came out. i think they look SO silly. well, i bought some yesterday. :-) **added after wearing them for a day - they ARE very comfortable! i still can't really walk normal, so it's hard for me to tell and get the full "advantage" of the "extra" workout by wearing them. but, they are comfortable!}
i mean, how could i wear that other thing for 6 weeks??
the reality of this has set in over the last 24 hours.
the beach in 3 weeks is going to be different...no walks on the beach...i just hate feeling thwarted...like i can't do what i want to do.
i don't realize how ACTIVE my life is til i need to slow down.
spring is just about here. no afternoon walks with the kids...THIS i think makes me the saddest (right after "no running.")
um...i might have to wear these shoes with shorts? sadness.
and, i'm just TIRED.
TIRED in my soul from fighting things.
i SERIOUSLY felt SO CONTENT with things after that friday of watching my friend's kids.
God had brought me through the darkness of the winter.
then spoke clearly to me the weekend i went away...brought my heart back in line with HIM.
i slowly handed things over to Him...and then completely did that Friday...
3.days.later....i break my foot!
ugh.
i'm just tired of fighting.
that's all.
i don't feel like i can take one more thing.
and then it happens.
i'm tired.

That really sucks. I run too and it would be extremely difficult to hear you couldn't for 6 weeks. I have to say I like the shoes. My mom has some and I tried her's on - I love the way they feel.
You totally rock the shoes.
those shoes are HOT!! ;)
I'm so sorry you broke your foot! I can speak from experience though and say "stay off it!" as much as you can. It can be hard for bones in your foot to heal because of the constant stress and less blood flow down there. I hope it doesn't drag on for you. I slept with my foot elevated on some pillows (outside the covers) and it helped. I hope you get some good rest tonight.
I am so sorry about your foot Courtney!! This is a rough time of year for that type of injury - not that there's ever a good time...
Those shoes aren't bad, are they? I had never seen them before. I don't think they're ugly!
I HATE that your foot is broken but is it totally insensitive that your shoe modeling pictures are CRACKING me up!!!!???
Unbelievable. Really, it was JUST a ball!!!
God is stretching you girl - extra attention from God is a good thing - a precious thing - but I hate it that it's painful so often.
Praying for you because I know you've prayed for me in my dark times.
I am so sorry!! Foot injuries are horrible! Coming from someone who has been there, take it easy and do what the dr. says. No matter how hard (mentally) it is. :) The shoes look good (compared to a boot or that other type of shoe or crutches!!)! And aren't they supposed to be toning your butt as you walk??!! I thought that I remembered reading that about those shoes. If so, think how toned your butt will be at the end of these weeks. :) Hang in there!!
dislike!
I am so sorry, Courtney! Yuck! At least you're rockin' those shoes! :)
i'm so sorry courtney. i bet joshua and rebekkah could pull YOU in a wagon for your afternoon walks :)
Sorry you are hurting. Hope it heals faster than expected!
hope you feel better soon. chronic pain is the worst!! take care of yourself and try to rest (as hard as that is) or you might end up like me with permanently damaged knees. :( sending healing prayers your way.
I was thinking of buying those shoes to see if they help my back but I agree they aren't the cutest. My mom has a pair and they have really helped w her verocose veins on the back of her legs.
Hope your foot heals quickly!
Right....I won't take it personally but I wear these Sketchers all the time. They are so awesome!!!! They are the most comfortable shoes ever. I have varicose veins in one leg and they help so much. Also, they improve your posture, alleviate any hip/back strain AND they make you two inches taller without nearly as much discomfort as killer heels. You'll make them cool and never go back to regular shoes. PLUS you get a much better workout in them. Seriously burning buns if you go for a hilly walk:)
I am so sorry. I really am. I know when it feels like the crao just keeps on falling.
Jesus said to give him our burdens. He didn't place a limit on how many, so go ahead, try to throw this on too. He promises he will carry it with you, right?
I really hope those shoes make your butt look freaking awesome. Please tell me if it works. I might have to get some.
Try putting a pillow (rolled) in your bed to lift the covers so nothing is hitting your foot, but you still have the warmth of your blankets. I learned this trick the hard way!
i'm SO sorry!!! i really hope it starts feeling better soon. :( i think the shoes are WAY better than a boot. who knows, maybe they'll become your new fave and you'll be convincing all of us to buy some too! :)
i think the shoes are cute! at least i know they do serve a real purpose now - i totally think most people wear them thinking they are getting a work out or something. Hate it for you though - i know you are so over it and frustrated. Learn what He's trying to teach you sweet friend! Love you!

I am so confused. Why in the WORLD would you choose those Sketchers over those awesome looking shoes with the double velcro straps? I mean, WHAT were you thinking? This injury has really messed with your head or something
;-)
I also had a broken sesamoid bone when I was 8 months pregnant. The pain was horrible. I wish you a speedy recovery!
How is your foot? Are you sure it is/was a broken sesamoid bone? I have a broken sesamoid bone too. However, I never had intense overwhelming pain, just constant medium-extreme discomfort. My podiatrist said the same thing...give it six weeks...and sent me on my merry way. Well, it turns out that sesamoids are very very tricky bones to have heal. In fact, it seems the majority of sesamoid fractures do not heal, and if you still have pain after 6 months it is basically going to be a permanent lifelong condition, with one of the only options being a sesamoidectomy, which most dr's recommend against. I broke my sesamoid bone about 18 months ago and I still have basically no shoes I can wear. It sucks. A lot. If you haven't already I would suggest going to an orthopedist instead of a podiatrist...I didn't and that was a huge mistake. Especially go now while you are still within the 6 month mark.
Great blog...Did your sesamoid bone ever heal? I've been limping on one in and out of a boot for six months now. Just hoping to hear a positive outcome? Thx.

Did it ever heal? Any advice? I'm been suffering from a sesamoid fracture for almost 3mo now.
I've been going through the same thing. Did you ever heal? Any advice?
Hi I came across your post & would like to know how you're doing. I broke my sesamoid 3 1/2 yrs ago & then 1 1/2 years ago. Check out Dr. Blake's Healing Sole website. He seems to be the only dr I can find with real knowledge about the sesamoid bones! Thank you for your post as I don't feel so alone❤️
Hi Darci I accidentally pasted a link to an Amy Winehouse interview! How is your foot? Did it heal? I have broken my sesamoid twice in 3 yrs & it is completely awful. The pain doesn't stop, us like to see Dr. Blake in San Francisco-he has a website: dr. Blake's Healing sole-he seems to be the only dr with some extensive knowledge of the sesamoids in feet! Do you have any advice? I hope to hear from you-ktarapilos@icloud.com.
