"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit
within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take
your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of
Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me."

Psalm 51:10-12

this psalm was one of the ones that i meditated on during my weekend away.
read over and over...slowly...quickly...out loud...in my head...
these verses spoke to me loudly.
and i've memorized them and said them out loud countless times {lots of times during the carpool line :-)} during the last couple weeks.
try it.
say it out loud.
it comes ALIVE!

Did we talk about this verse? We studied it in our study. The word for "create" is the same word "bara" that's used in Genesis. The word that only God can do - created from nothing, not using other materials to shape. Meaning only God can create a clean heart. so when we mess up or arefrustrated that we're having to come back to him AGAIN and ask for this same request AGAIN - we shouldn't be frustrated or dwell on our failure - only HE can create that heart tat we need!!

This is one of my very favorite praise songs. I think it is on the original RBC praise and worship CD from the Paul Goodnight days. Of course I am also sure that some real famous person did it first. But I always associate it with the early years at RBC.
