i'm obsessed...no, passionate

this picture has nothing to do with this post...i just like it...and his last game is this saturday...
{it's pat pitching to joshua on tuesday night}

there are a lot of things i'm "obsessed" with.
"obsessed" doesn't seem like a "good" word...but i can't think of another...maybe "passionate"?? that sounds better, right? let's go with there are lots of things i'm "passionate" about.

i'm passionate about diet coke. i had gotten in the habit of buying a diet coke from chick fil a every time i went to the gym...usually 2 or 3 times a week. PLUS i buy one when i go grocery shopping at Sam's. so about 4 times a week i was spending money on a diet coke. i just switched gyms to one closer to my house...and there's no chick fil a on the way home. i considered going to mc d's today...but have been convicted to stop buying diet coke. i will allow myself one *fountain* diet coke a week. i'm not saying it's "bad" or "wrong"...but, for me, it's clearly money not used wisely. {darn this book i'm reading..."Radical" by David Platt...all KINDS of stuff God is teaching me though it...this is just one of the small, tiny things...but i think even the small things are very important.}

i'm passionate about kissing sawyer. like, i can.not.stop. i kiss his cheeks. his toes. his nose. his fingers. his belly! he is SO fun to kiss!!!!

i'm passionate about clean water. if you've been reading long enough, you know that we really push clean water around christmas time around here. it's not that i don't think about it the rest of the year...i DO...it's just not as much of a focus. anyways...that video from the other day {yesterday??} wrecked me. i watched it with my kids and we had some great conversations. it's such a simple thing..."clean water"...yet so very important.

i'm passionate about exercising...and specifically running. i LOVE it. but lately {for about a month now} i've just felt too TIRED when i exercise. no matter what i do i just don't feel "great" and i'm used to feeling "great" when i run. so, when i was swimming on monday morning i was thinking about it. and the whole "resting" thing {i have a really hard time resting.} and how it's good for you to rest sometimes. so i decided that i need to rest for a few days. i told pat that night that NEXT week i'm going to rest...not run, not swim...it's the last week of school and my last week with just the younger 3 home...it's a good week to do it and have a little more time and energy to focus on them. i told pat that i felt like if i didn't do something soon, i was either going to burnout or injure myself. well, something happened to my hip the next day! since tuesday my right hip has hurt so badly i am sure i look silly when i'm walking. but i'm going to run through tomorrow and then rest from saturday through next wednesday. {i'm passionate AND stubborn :-)}

i'm passionate about being intentional. i'm spending a lot of time planning for our summer right now. there are 7 days of school left...and then i have the summer with my kids! we are going to have a lot of fun...but we are also going to work hard. i have been frustrated lately with how our society is willing to "settle" a lot...settle for being a "good" mom when you could be more intentional and be the mom you know God truly desires for you to be...settle for having a "good" marriage when we could be more intentional and have a GREAT marriage...settle for giving some {money, time, energy, love} when we could be more intentional and not just give some, but give what it takes to reach the goal.

i'm passionate...well, actually, obsessed about guacamole. :-)

i'm passionate about orphans...and how much God loves them and has called US to love them.

i'm passionate about teaching. i really love teaching my kids....to swim, to read, to play the piano.

i'm obsessed with candy. i need to get control of that again.

what are you passionate about??

That was fun to read :)I always enjoy the details you share.
I think it would take me about as much space as it took you to answer your question - so I won't do that here. But I do like your thoughts. May try to think it over and blog about it one day too.

Ooooo, send me radical when you're done! ;-) j/j Seriously though, I've been wanting to read it but can't find it anywhere (to rent or borrow). I'm with you on the guacamole. :-) Can't wait to hear more about your plans for the summer.
