the unexpected.
it struck me.
i struggle with expectations.
too many of them.
too high they are.
but do i ever expect the unexpected??
it's in the unexpected that we really see Him.
it's in the unexpected that we really see other's hearts.
it's in the unexpected that we really SEE.
2000 years ago people were expecting a king.
how He came to earth...as a baby in a dirty manger was very unexpected.
yet He knew that was what we needed.
i've been going through my days this week looking for the unexpected.
it's everywhere!
if i focus on the unexpected:
*pat coming home early {DAYS ago...NOT tonight...but see, the joy of it still lingers...}
*sawyer's childlike wonder at twinkling lights
*all 4 kids playing together...without fighting...for more than 5 (ok...2) minutes
*rebekah teaching joshua how to sing a Christmas carol so that they can go caroling
*Bailey telling me, "i just love you SO much!"
*kind words from acquaintances
*snow falling from the sky when they were calling for rain
*a friend from another country showing up and sitting next to me for 2 hours!
then the "everyday" things seem much brighter.
less mundane.
i have more joy.
and less impatience.
expect the unexpected.
it's often exactly what we need.

Courtney, I was so touched with your blog "Expect the unexpected". God has really been speaking to me about this very thing. "He's been saying to me, stop telling me how and when you want things done....I have something way better for you"! It seems to me that when we demand things to happen on our terms, God puts us in that waiting room that is so hard to be in! This has so encouraged me that I am going to start praying that God bring the unexpected into my family's lives! Praise God!!!! I'm excited!!!!!
Oh and p.s., I love the picture of Pat with the two boys by the Christmas Tree!!!
