went straight from church to the Christmas tree farm {different farm from "the farm" that we go to all year} this morning!
last year was our first year cutting down our own tree and we LOVED it.
so we went back.
rebekah liked this one.
i told her it was a bit too tall...
i love joshua watching so intently.
we ran into the guthrie's out there!
pulling our tree to get wrapped up!
they've got this tree cutting thing down to a science.
it runs like a well-oiled machine.
you bring your tree to them, they shake it and get all the loose needles out, put it through a thing and wrap it up and then give it back to you to put on your car!
and you get to drink yummy apple cider while all that's going on...
and eat your lunch!
{2 days in a row of a packed lunch. 2 days less of crumbs under my kitchen table :-) love that!}
bailey and garrett guthrie
after some quiet time in our separate rooms this afternoon, we snacked on sausage balls {that pat made all by himself! while i was blogging...}
we decorated the tree.
it was...not merry.
but it got done.
and this was the finale.
and the favorite part.
the train.
can you tell i just loved shooting his legs?? :-)
we just had a BIG talk with the kids.
it was supposed to be the first night of advent.
but...we had other things to focus on.
we had a great family weekend.
but there are some awful attitudes/complaining/arguing/etc going on.
tried to re-focus a bit as we head into a new week.
i'll admit, i need a bit refocusing myself right now.
i'm not prepared for a new week.
but i'm trusting in His grace.
and peace.
that i know is there if i ask for it.
off to spend some time with a man that i love with all my heart and i've been with most of the weekend but have hardly looked at his face with all we've been doing.
can't wait to hear about your weekend!

Hey Courtney... I know how you feel about attitudes. I had to have a talk with Eli tonight. I realized that by being back without Zach they are both fighting for my every attention...and they are both crying, whining, and complaining all the time. It is driving me batty. I had a great talk with Eli and I think our issue is we are traveling... we are watching more tv than usual, dad isn't around, no breaks, and no structure. I really need to sit down and think through with more intentions what to do with them... and I also realized we haven't been doing quiet times together which we usually do together daily... *sigh* Hope you had a great time with Pat. I love the pics of Sawyers legs :)
it's been rough around here too...we're working hard at them too. i havefelt myself becoming much more frustrated with them much more frequently. at least i'm not the only one struggling lately...working on things over here...and so i'm way behind on reading your blog! but i had to get a quick fix...
that's the same christmas tree farm we went to when we were in virginia! we loved it...and miss the family outing there! so fun to see the pics of it there...enjoy your real tree (we only get fake ones in thailand, since it's the tropics and no evergreens grow here...well, and the fact that you don't EVER bring live trees/shrubs/bushes into your house due to snakes and lots of bugs)! Yay for having your Christmas tree up!!!
it's not even december 1st and if my kids break one more christmas thing there will be no peace on earth this holiday season. sigh. i think merry tree decorating is when there are more responsible humans in the house than people who would drink toilet cleaner for fun (or for a quarter.) I might have to do a post about this. :)
Which farm? The last few years our regular farms have not had trees big enough (too freshly planted, picked over or way TOO big, grrr.). Your pics showed some good ones.
Jennifer - it's Snicker's Gap Christmas tree farm - out 7 west...past Purcellville. GREAT farm!!
how FUN and what great pictures Courtney!!!
And I LOVE all your Christmas pictures...can't wait to see the "real ONE"!!!! (if I understood your post right??!! I'm a little out of it these days!)
