expectations.
they always get me.
i had visions of a beautiful fall day. at the farm.
tons of amazing pictures.
and a fun time as a family.
it was FREEZING (in the 40's...so, technically not freezing...but we've been wearing shorts up until today! so it FELT freezing to us!)
i didn't get as many amazing pictures as i'd like.
and we didn't last as long as we had planned.
{none of us were dressed for the temperatures!}
but we tried to make the best of it.
we got a pumpkin.
played a little bit.
and then came home and ate the lunch we had packed for the farm on our family room floor in front of our fire. :-)
then took naps!
{well, pat mowed the grass...the rest of us took naps!}
i'm not ready for COLD.
seriously.
NOT READY!
it was a wonderful weekend, though.
i think life would be a lot less stressful if we always had 3 day weekends.
don't you?

sawyer's little outfit is so so cute! sorry it wasn't as fun as you had planned, I can't believe how cold is was today, I didn't like it either!
i want three day weekends every weekend too. my husband didn't get one this weekend (in fact he left on a trip to be gone for the week yesterday afternoon). :( but i am happy that you guys got one!! i am sorry to say that we are in winter here too. we woke up to 2 inches of snow on saturday!!! and the weather person that I watch while i am working out and running in the morning said that the average temps for us right now is supposed to be 66 degrees!! so i immediately had a little chat with God to let him know that things are a bit mixed up and it is october not january!! :)
Love that pic of you and Sawyer.
And yes, I vote for 3 day weekends!
i totally agree on the 3 day weekends...wish we had one!!! i can't BELIEVE it was that cold there! it was in the 60s here today because it was rainy, and it felt cold to us!! i think it's going to be much milder down here than in VA. strange!
Yes, yes ~ 3 day weekends would help us out SO much! It was a cold day wasn't it. Your pics are great tho. Glad you all had fun. Here comes the week and it's ALREADY Tuesday!
i want to go to your farm :) with you :)
i want to see belle and bai and joshua and jackson together at the farm. i think that would be a total, total blast :)
I have such a hard time with my expectations!! :) I once heard an older woman say, that the distance between reality and our expectations is where our discontentment lies---I LOVED that! It doesn't help me from having high expectations though---ha! :)
LOVED those sweet pictures and what a fun time with your family---loved the thought of you all by the fire!! That is so fun. Love you!!
Your pictures are still very good! The cold weather is hard to get used to...we've been there for a while and it had me in a really BAD mood at first.
the SAME thing happened to us on our Pumpkin Patch day. cold and windy....but it looks like you had fun :)
okay it was 27C last week, 4 days ago and yesterday and today were 4... with 45mph winds. It was sleeting on us for part of today. I could not believe it. Same as you, in shorts and then now winter coats. CRAZY and not liking it...I really want Fall. I hope we don't miss it here.
And can I tell you that it is hard to find pumpkins here...and I have a DREAM of going to a pumpkin patch with the kids...even if just for a picture...lol. Not sure if that will ever happen. And I took a picture today of Eli in front of the sad pumpkins in the grocery store today...and at the checkout the woman didn't know what it was I had, and I told her and she was like "oh the holiday pumpkin, okay, we aren't used to seeing these" they don't know what to do with it and usually they don't eat them. So different. So you can look at my grocery store pictures and love yours a little more in comparison....lol
