a gift

i have less than 5 minutes.
but i want to get this down before i pick up the older 2 and the rest of the day rushes by without stopping like it always does!

guess what?!?

i woke up this morning to the BEST gift!!!
a day with NOTHING on my calendar!
and a houseful of people i LOVE to be with!
{and healthy people at that! we're totally dodging the bullet so far...every day one of the kids comes home and says, "so and so got sick today...threw up all over...oh, and they sit at my table!" and i've already said the swine flu is all over around here. i'm not taking for granted our health today.}

so...i decided not to fill today with stuff {like i usually do}
i had to STOP my mind from saying, "i could do that" "or that"

instead...we've been HOME.
enjoying each other.
the gift of time.
and each other.
time to stop and hug and listen and read and feel.
i always forget how little time it really takes to make a HUGE difference.

we built a city this morning...
with books for roads
{my siblings and i used to do this!!! memories!!!}
and i drew a school on a sheet of white paper for the school
the top of a little box was the church (?)

this was the house joshua made

until he turned around and got the cutest smile on his face and said,
"mom! we have a REAL BIG house!" {the doll house}

it was heavenly.

and then we made pumpkin muffins!
that post coming...

oh, and this gift:
if pat or i is ever squatting down, or sitting down, this little boy likes to walk to us, turn around and back himself into your legs. all close and cozy. it's SO cute!
{sorry for the fuzzy picture...joshua took it! :-)}

ok...off to get my kids!
we have a fun afternoon planned!!!

So great, don't you just love those kind of memories and the 15 month lap thing is adorable and I always say please Lord let it last forever, of course my 8 year old sitting on my lap is a little hard, she's a little boney and heavy, but I'll take it.

those are such fun great moments! I love the book idea for a road...we will have to do that, but what I love best is Sawyer in the indoor kid pool in your living room... awesome!
