that dr visit yesterday afternoon was crazy!
2 hours of questions, vision tests, height/weight checks, and no less than 10 shots.
i lost track.
it took me and 2 nurses to hold each of the girls down.
{the DRAMA!!}
joshua was pretty tough.
and sawyer only screamed his head off when we were wrestling the girls and they were screaming bloody-murder. {they put us in this room way back in a corner...now i know why :-)}
didn't cry at all when he got his own 2 shots.
and the nurse/dr had to fill out some paperwork for the adoption - saying the kids were healthy and wouldn't be negatively affected by new, adopted siblings - i'm pretty sure those nurses had QUITE a conversation after we left!
"um...i'm not sure that girl with all those screaming kids needs 2 more kids!"
they were very kind and interested in it all {my present and future kids} while we were there, though.
and, overall, it went way better than i expected.
{see...working on my expectations...i expected it to be HORRENDOUS and it was just crazy! i know crazy! that's the norm around here!}
here are the trays with all the shots.
{so, i think i've decided to get the seasonal flu shot and NOT the swine flu shot...well, we all just GOT the seasonal flu shot, so that's done. and the swine flu shot isn't even out yet. i feel like it's going to be too late once it comes out.}
and then we came home, ate dinner and got the kids ready for bed.
when pat walked in, i headed out to meet my sister.
and then had 2 hours of calm catching up in front of a fire with my beautiful sister. :-)
{and my parents popped in for a minute to give something to my sister which was an added bonus!}

At least everyone has their flu shots. I've been to 4 places to get a flu shot and STILL don't have one! Rediculous...
I can only imagine how challenging that doctors visit was. I had to take 2 kids in last week and had Aaron come with me because I wasn't sure I could handle it. I definitely know about drama giving a 4yr old girl shots. I wonder how old they'll have to be before we don't have to hold them down.
It is exciting to hear about you going through all the steps for adoption, even when they are challenging (and a little painful for the kids).
I love the fact that you said "it was just crazy...and I am used to crazy..." love that! After all this talk about the flu shot I keep thinking I am behind on things, but they haven't even come out here yet. So, I am still waiting to get them for us all.
Where are you with your sister? Looks cozy!
WOW, 2 hours...that is just torture, I hate waiting 20 minutes when I'm in the doctor's office, I can't imagine two hours. Crazy is right but at least you are all set up for the future.
i don't have a sister. but i love the relationship that you guys have. it makes me SO thankful that avery and ashton have each other.... :)
LOL! I will so never feel bad about how my boys react to shots again...it has never taken more than just me to hold them down. Of course I say this and next week when I take them for flu shots it will take five nurses...
UGH - i can't believe it was such an ordeal for the girls!! what in the world?? our pediatrician is out of the flu shot, but said not to worry - the seasonal flu doesn't usually start circulating badly until jan/feb/mar, so i'll just wait til they get more in a few weeks. and we'll see if anyone gets the swine flu vaccination in time for any of us!!
