plumpy nut

i think i've talked about plumpy nut before.
but i'm putting it before you again.

this stuff is amazing.
seriously.
as close to a miracle concoction as you can get...brings kids from the brink of death to healthy in as little as a few days.

it comes in packets like this

it is peanut butter mixed with powdered milk, powdered sugar and vitamins and minerals.
there are no peanut allergies in unindustrialized countries.
{makes you wonder, huh??}
it requires no refrigeration, no water {good thing...they don't have any clean water where they need this stuff!} and no cooking.
kids can feed it to themselves...or their siblings...and, sadly, this is required often.

as we head into this weekend.
a weekend where we honor those Americans who have died while in the military.
we do lots of things to "honor" them - wear red, white and blue, have barbeques with friends, and enjoy beautiful weather {hopefully!}
