teaching your child to read...

i LOVE this book.
a friend recommended it to me {thanks, kelly!}
and i've been doing it with joshua for a few weeks.
we just finished lesson 18.
he loves it.
it's a bit dry {the copyright is 1986!} but he still loves it and can focus for the time it takes.
i wasn't sure when i ordered it, if i was going to be able to use it for bailey too {next year} but i can because you don't write in it at all.
although i'm not so sure bailey is going to love it as much.
they are 2 very different personalities.
she might need me to dance out the letters and sounds for her :-)
anyways, i would highly recommend it!

Does your school district do Animated Alphabet? That's exactly what it is... there is a song/dance/actions for each letter sound! 43 in all. (long/short vowel each have their own, as well as blends, etc. Th, Sh, Ch, oi/oy, etc.) I love it! :)

My sister taught my niece Emma to read with that book! She loved it too! I've got to make sure she doesn't "ebay" it so I can have it!

i'm guessing i'll be dancing and jumping and writing in the dirt and in the driveway, too.

jackson has his style, and she is going to have an entirely different one, that's for sure! (hers might actually involve me!:)
