childhood

ahhh...to be a child.
i'll be honest.
some days {ok. most days...} i get annoyed with "childish" things...
"no, i can't push you on the swing any more."
"no, i can't play another game of Memory...i have to fold laundry."
"be quiet. stop laughing so loud...sawyer's sleeping."
what?!?
who tells someone to stop LAUGHING!!!
i do. and i hate that.

we took a walk to the playground before lunch.
and i was struck with the joy of being a child.

i let myself go.
i let them go.
we walk through a tunnel to get there.
and i let them scream their little brains out so that it would echo...
"oh, yeah!"
and i screamed too!

"mom, can i run up the hill and then run down super fast?"
yes! go do it!

after lunch, bailey had a party in her room.
we ran around like maniacs.
i was dancing with sawyer.
and then joshua came in with 2 pillows.
"mom, can you make me a hamburger and eat me?'
as he's laying on top of one pillow. and wants me to put the other one on top of him and "eat him."
he laughed so hard.
where do they come up with this stuff?!?
i don't know.
but childhood is amazing.
and i love watching it.

i'm going to try to do better at taking it in...the simplicity and joy.

I sometimes find myself doing the same thing-shushing them when they are LAUGHING because it's too loud. I can too easily focus on all the wrong things! Love this perspective you shared from today. It is such a good one to have and isn't it fun to let yourself go and have fun?!

oh to be a child again! i have to admit i'm guilty of taking the fun out of being a kid. every time i do it there is something inside me that screams how WRONG i am! ugh! we all need to be reminded to let our children ENJOY being little. to be free of stress and worry and the weight of this world! it all goes by so quickly for them! i don't want to steal all the fun! :(

Wow, I am awed by your posts....I love them. I love you saying YES and having fun! We moms often get into our "responsible" routine. Good for you for breaking OUT. You made me smile. YOu made me want to say YES and enjoy life. And.....I see Bailey has her headband on.....so cute. I love you dear Courtney and all of yours.
