i'm trying.
but rebekah wants to play monopoly. or some other "hard" game that no other kid can play.
she's had enough years of playing candy land, i guess.
pat stayed home for a couple hours. helped shovel us out. and he worked from here while sawyer took his morning nap and i took the other 3 sledding.
bailey was MISERABLE. snot coming out of every hole from crying because she was "so cold!"
the other 2 had fun, i think.
tried to build a snow man.
no luck.
it's fluffy, not wet.
sawyer has a cold. cranky. cute, but cranky. and wants to be held. ONLY by me.
we're reaching a "turning point" with bailey. i can feel it. but until we reach that "head" where the turning point is, it's going to be rough. she's a rough one. lots of time in her room today.
joshua wants help with a crossword puzzle.
pat took my car to work.
he couldn't have his first day driving his new car be in all this mess! (dirt/salt/slush/etc).
so i'm stuck.
not that i would have gone anywhere anyway, it's just different REALLY being stuck.
snow days are fun, right?
i keep telling myself that.
maybe when they can all go out and play in the snow by themselves it will be fun.
hopefully some of them will sleep good this afternoon...

you forgot to mention the time it takes to get everyone dressed and then undressed :) I can't believe Pat went into work. Were your streets plowed? It's snowing again. I am so thankful EJ is home.
i literally laughed out loud this morning when i saw your post of the snow. and how you seemed to be enjoying it. because seriously, by this time of year here in iowa, we are MORE THAN beyond enjoying winter weather.
take your day today times 2 months. NOT fun.
all that to say, i truly do enjoy snow. and snow days. if only they just came once or twice a YEAR.
i feel your pain today more than you know...
ha - that's hilarious. mom said it was fluffy snow - fun to run and play in, but not to build anything good. bummer. josiah enjoyed peeling the "snow" off the van, but then was whining about how his hands hurt so bad b/c they were cold. oh well. it's real life i suppose!
I was happy to see that you have way more snow than us now!
But don't you just hate it when you expect a day to be fun and it doesn't end up going that way?
I guess its the trade off for when you aren't expecting much out of a day and it ends up being a wonderful memory!
You're so funny! And I think you are exactly where I am right now! My mom just called to wish us a happy snow day, and I was like, "Uh, yeah right, Mom!" We're stuck at home too bc Davey took my Jeep to work...and I have been debating whether or not to go to the trouble to bundle up Jackson to take him outside to "build" a snowman (for all of the five minutes he would last out there!)...But now that I know it's the wrong kind of snow, I don't feel so guilty! ;) Remember how we are supposed to live next door to each other and have tunnels to each other's houses? That would come in very handy today!! :) Love you! xoxo
yeah, so when we have snow days i bribe the children with hot chocolate. in no way does snow itself earn the hot chocolate; good behavior does. can you hear me? "if you can stop whining and complaining about how cold you are or how tired you are and how you want to go home, then you are obviously too tired or too cranky for hot chocolate. if you can show me that you can have fun, then i will make you hot chocolate."
and it works. for 5 months, it works :) well, i guess i still have one more month of this...let's hope it lasts for all 5...because yes, it is hard!!! and all the extra laundry!!! (just picture having to dress them in all that clothing and stuff them in a car seat for school each day. sigh.) and take lots of pictures---the pictures always cheer me up and remind me that it is worth it.
:)oh, and p.s. a spray bottle of warm water helps with the snowman making. we can get 2 feet of snow and still be unable to build a snow man b/c it's so dry here...spray bottle...:)
hey- at least you got some use out of those snow clothes? :)
P.S. I only have 2 kids...
:)
