joshua's first soccer game

this was the CUTEST thing ever.

he's NEVER played soccer before.
he's in the "mini-soccer" league...they don't even have practices.
we got his shinguards and socks a few weeks ago.
i've found him sleeping in his shinguards and socks numerous times.
he's really been looking forward to this day!

you just show up on saturday for an hour, they "get coached" for 30 minutes, and then play a little game for about 20 minutes.

bailey was really into it...

the girls on the sideline

he did so great.
he was one of the few that knew which goal he was supposed to go for.
he scored 4 of their 5 goals.
but, mostly, it was great to see him come so alive.
he's such a laidback guy...but he has some competitive spirit in him.
which was nice to see.

pretty focused on the goal

got tangled in the net...

and a smile on his face the whole time.

we loved getting to cheer him on!
go joshua!

How fun for him! I love how their little shinguards cover their whole legs at this point! Josiah had so much fun when he played last fall...and I think we're going to let Jacob do it this year. It's such a great time for them to shine...looks like Joshua must have taken after your amazing soccer genes!

that is so cool... We have the option to sign Eli up for soccer after school starting in October for 3 days. That means he will sleep at school and then go to practice after nap time at another location from school and be bussed back when it is over. Seems like a lot for a 4 year old...we will see. And hopefully he will understand anything the coach is telling him to do!
