our long weekend

we had a great weekend together. pat's work hours have been very long for the last month or so (really, for the last 4 years or so...) and we really needed and enjoyed this past weekend.

we got a lot "crossed off" our list, we did some fun "things" as a family, and we just were together. we made some choices to NOT do some things so that we could just "be." and i think they were good decisions. we didn't allow rebekah to go to a birthday party she was invited to - we just wanted her to be home. and we didn't go to a neighborhood get together - as MUCH as we love our neighbors, we hadn't eaten dinner together for at least a week and spent the whole evening together (and pat and i had a great evening once the kids were in bed just talking! man, did i miss that guy!)

some highlights:
rebekah lost another tooth
we went to a nursery and played on the stuff - we all 5 (!) got in the moon bounce!

- then we went to Sams and bought our pumpkin (it's only $5.88 there!)
-took Pat to the red barn yesterday

i also got my hair cut for the first time in months - about 3 inches off - and you can't even tell.
i ran the longest distance ever so far - 9 miles! by myself with no ipod. i felt pretty good.
we didn't set an alarm for 3 days straight
i took naps 2 afternoons!
we made a big breakfast (one of our favorite things to do as a family)
we got to celebrate Pat's dads birthday with his family
Joshua and Rebekah "reconnected" - it was so precious to watch them play together
i joined a gym so that i can swim regularly!
we grilled a turkey for dinner one night- and it turned out great! (we had never done that before)

we always do our "candle" (family devotion) before the kids go to bed. yesterday, while i was taking a nap, pat came up with questions and a scavenger hunt for the "candle" last night. we've been reading through the book of John and the questions were kind of a summary of what we've read so far. the kids LOVED it!

if felt good to slow down, and just BE. now we're off again!

Man, that is so great. Sounds like the perfect kind of weekend. So much I can't even comment on all of it, but....so glad about the gym where you can swim!!! Can't believe you did 9 miles alone & no music???She lost another tooth?? How's the potty training going?? No more issues? Oh - and grilling turkey success! Now you're ready for Thanksgiving!
