happy 21st birthday, hannah!

i can't even begin to say what an amazing person this girl is. oh, how i remember the day she was born. i was so excited for a little sister! we moved across the country 3 weeks later and i got to take care of her (change her diapers, etc) the whole way. i thought it was the best. seriously.
when she was a toddler, she was known for these adorable blonde pigtails ( i was going to post a pic - but didn't. you're welcome, hannah :-)) i loved dressing her in "cool" outfits. it was like having a live doll baby!
there were some years when i was in jr/high school that i was too absorbed in myself to really remember what our relationship was like. i hate that.
when i got married between my jr and sr years of college - hannah was my maid of honor. she was only 12. i knew at the time that one day i would be so thankful to be able to say that she was my maid of honor. and i am. i can think of no other person i would have rather had standing next to me as i married my wonderful husband.
she is 9 years younger than me. growing up we felt the age span. but now, it's getting smaller and smaller. she truly is one of my friends. and one that i could call no matter what time of day if i needed her. she is such a gift to me. even though she hasn't experienced some of the stages of life that i have. she's always done an unbelieveable job of trying to understand and care about them - being married, having babies, parenting, etc. and she even ENCOURAGES me in those roles - unbelieveable! and now, in her role as an aunt she loves my children so well...and boy, do they love her! i will never forget the day this year when hannah came over while rebekah was still at school and when we picked rebekah up from school she literally ran and JUMPED into hannah's arms - it was precious! tears immediately sprang to my eyes. i'm thankful my girls have such a great aunt to watch as they grow up!
she is such a dear sister and friend to me. she supports me and encourages me and i love to laugh with her. she is so beautiful inside and out. her hunger for the Lord is awesome to watch. her love for others is to be admired. i'm blessed to be one of them!
hannah, happy birthday. you are such a blessing in my life! i love you!
