rebekah's last day of kindergarten

so, this was her first day of kindergarten. of course, i can remember it like it happened 1 second ago. it was POURING down rain. pat was limping (still recovering from his achilles tendon surgery). we were living in sterling. she was so excited. i, surprisingly, didn't cry.
today is her last day of kindergarten. she's finishing her year in ashburn. she's only there for 3 hrs a day. but every day since that first day last september, i have had a HUGE lump in my throat EVERY time i drop her off. i thought it might go away at some point. i'm afraid it won't maybe til she's 30 years old or something. i've prayed for my children since they were growing inside of me. but having rebekah be in school this year has taken my prayers for her to a different level. i've had to trust and let go in a way that i haven't had to do. and i know it is only going to happen more and more.

she is amazing. she is so confident and tackles school and the people there (students, teachers, volunteers) with such excitement. i love it. and i can't wait to spend more time with her this summer. i'm not going to think about what september holds for awhile...ok, now i'm crying.
and this is what joshua and bailey have done every morning as we walk rebekah to school. and bailey waves and says, "hi!" to everyone we pass.

This has been a big year Courtney ~ your oldest child heading off the school. It is a BIG step and you have done a great job. Rebekah has been blessed with two GREAT schools and teachers. She is loved and ready for her years of school ahead. God bless and protect this precious child, Rebekah. Love, Mom

I absolutely can NOT believe that she has finished Kindergarten and is off to the big 1st grade now! What a joy she is - she is such a confident, smart girl - and a testament to the love and prayers of her parents. You guys have done a great job!!! (And you're making me very emotional, and Josiah's not even in school yet!!)
