dog days of summer

this week is super super hot. close to 100 degrees. heat indexes over 100. i know some areas of the country are used to this. we aren't. it's crazy hot. but we aren't letting it keep us inside. we drink lots of water, get wet a lot, and don't complain. :-)

yesterday my mom came over for the afternoon. we ate lunch together and then she played a game with the older kids, the younger kids napped, and i went to the pool and read for an hour! it was as amazing as it sounds.

then we headed out for the swim meet. it was hot. we were ALL drenched, dripping in sweat. i didn't wear a skirt to be cute. i wore it instead of shorts because in shorts the sweat would have made it look like i'd had an accident in my pants. :-)

and this is maybe the reason why...ALL 4 grandparents were there! cheering them on! in that heat! they are all amazing.

despite the heat, it was such a fun day...one of my favorites of the summer!
