loving in the everyday moments

we have LOTS of "everyday moments" around here. lots of interaction with each other. and others. my faith is getting simpler and simpler the older i get. when i was younger, i complicated it with lots of things i felt like i needed to DO and NOT DO. the more i spend time in the Bible, and ask Him what this whole thing is about, the clearer i see that it's all about LOVE. not the hallmark kind, but the "i'll walk into whatever is going on in your life, no holds barred" kind of love. God IS love and He wants us to love. that's pretty much it.

i got to hug and kiss my friend's baby girl last week. i couldn't capture her dimple. but she has one. and i LOVE it. (and her!)
high school is NO JOKE, people. i'm only a few weeks in and it's kicking my tail. the drama. the issues. i want to have a house full of toddlers again! things were SO simple then! we cheered rebekah on for her first cross country meet!! and continue to be proud of her for doing it.
in order to love well (or at all...) my spirit has to have some quiet space. i fight for it. and it's so precious to me.
a lot of times i have to just drop my kids off/pick them up at practices...there are often multiple things happening every evening, and it's the only way it's all going to get done. but some nights i get to stay. and watch the practice. i was amazed how often his little eyes slid over to see if i was watching. and i was. oh i was.
friday night high school football game. i think we have a LOT of these ahead of us. i was just thankful we were in shorts and tshirts and not bundled under blankets!
we are hoping to start a big project (to us) soon! i needed a crow bar and sledge hammer. when i asked the nice man in Home Depot where they were located, he looked me up and down and asked, "maam, is someone helping you with this project?" ha!!
family reunion. i love my family. a lot.

I was asked a similar question at a Home Depot. It was, "Are you going to use that splitting maul by yourself?" Yes, I was, as a single mom at the time, but did not tell him that detail. He was simply trying to help me get a maul that was not too heavy. Still have that one, and we still use it. At least you were probably not helped by the checker calling on the PA for a "Code 50", which I swear is their way to get a helper to load things without saying, "Older person needs help!"

Can't wait to hear and see what the next project is going to be!
