i need this

hey hey! how are you today??
i miss this place. a lot. i know i've said it before. but this place is mostly for documenting life for my family. but it is also an important place for me to process life. to write and share and *talk it out.* and i miss it.

and i've just gotten out of the habit of writing here. my posts have mostly become just documenting...which i'm glad to have. but i need to share my heart more. i just do.

so. i'm committing to posting every {week} day from now until spring break. {then i'll be in brazil for a week!} and hopefully that will get me back into it. i've never wanted to feel tied to this place...i want to come when i want to come. but, sometimes, i think you need to force yourself to do something that's good for you...even if it doesn't come easily at first.

i needed the break from this being on my "to do list"...i have needed to focus on my family...and homeschooling...and just other things in my life that have needed to be priorities. but i have learned that this needs to be a priority, too. for ME. i need to take care of ME, too.

so, be patient with me as i get back into regular posting. and some comments would help me know there's someone out there :-)

I''m here, Courtney! I check in fairly regularly. Always love to catch up with your family. I still hold all of you Barn Girls dear to my heart.
I'm excited for your 'unexpected' trip to Brazil with Joshua. That is so special. I will pray for your entire family over that week.
I had to smile over your love of Brussels sprouts! I love them too!
sending love to you!

We're here! :)

I know life is crazy (I haven't written on my blog since the end of December!)but I just wanted to encourage you. From this Mama who is knee deep in dossier paperwork wondering just how much more crazy life is going to get when we add *another* child to our already large family (we have 4 kids currently) but reading your blog, your personal story, your share-your-heart-even-in-the-tough-moments words are beyond encouraging. Reading your blog we're getting a front row seat to watch how God can work in families when you just open your heart and be vulnerable enough to allow Him to do it. So thank you. Thank you for the encouragement you probably don't even know you give!

I read your blog every time you post and always find such encouragement. You write with a genuine voice and love for Jesus, your family and others, and I love how you capture the good, hard and growth found in living out daily life. I will continue to look forward to reading your words.

You don't know me, but I have followed your blog since your trip to Africa. I have loved reading about your family and your faith. I love your ability to be transparent...something I have struggled with...

I'm here! I felt this way about my blog a few weeks ago. Just keep showing up!!! I LOVE reading what you write!! (I'm reading another book that made me think of YOU: Love Does by Bob Goff. Have you read it?)

You don't know me either, but I check your blog almost daily. I'm not sure how I ever got started reading it, but I've been around for a few years and love your posts. They are so encouraging. I think when I first started reading your blog (way back when), I noticed that we were born on the same exact date (down to the year!). That's crazy for me to find someone that is exactly my age and not sure I ever have. I guess it's a sort of connection for me. Ha! Anyway, love your blog and your family. We also adopted our daughter (2005), so there's another tidbit I found in common with your family. Keep on posting - you never know when someone may need to hear what the Lord has laid on your heart to say.

I started reading your blog when I was in college and just haven't been able to stop! I feel like I know you family even though I don't actually knew you guys. I'm currently living in Brazil-- I hope you love it when you come!
