national cathedral and rock creek park

i decided to go into dc with the kids one day and see some of the sights that aren't your typical "touristy" sights. the plan was the national cathedral followed by a hike and picnic lunch in rock creek park.

the day was GORGEOUS. and so was the cathedral. but this was all we saw. you had to pay $10/person to get inside. and i didn't have my wallet on me, nor would i have paid that much anyways. so...it was a quick visit but i'm glad the kids saw it! it's a stunning building!

we love this stuff. walking outside. stopping to check things out that catch our eye. it's so amazing to me that this gorgeous park is in the middle of washington, dc.
she's getting older...and sometimes stands with me to watch instead of getting right down in there with them. i don't mind ;-)

they had scurried down to the water before i could even open my mouth. love that.

i caught a RARE moment between joshua and lincoln. these 2 do not have a very strong bond. and this wasn't forced or manipulated. it just happened. and made my heart sing.
i adored this day with them.
