some of these just needed some time to be shared.
this was at the end of our second beach trip. an amazing week with friends. unbelievable weather. my heart was full in all the best ways.
one of my kids asked to go searching for shells. and another joined us, too. we walked slowly, with our eyes on the sand. growing up, my grandma (my mom's mom) lived on the beach in Florida and she loved looking at shells...so does my mom...i guess the love of shells has been passed on yet again :-) makes my heart happy!

i could have easily missed it...if i had been walking faster, or not glanced in that one spot. it was such a poignant reminder to me of His gifts to us every day. He loves us so. and i'm certain He lays gifts before us WAY more often than we realize. if we would only walk a little slower, or glance a little longer...
have you ever given someone a gift that you were BEYOND excited to watch them open? you just KNEW it was the perfect gift and it brought you SUCH joy. if a picture was taken of YOUR face as they opened the gift, your smile would be just as big as theirs?
i pictured God that day...as He watched me find that perfect sand dollar. it made no sense that it was there...right in the middle of bits and pieces of shells. but it was. and i just KNOW He DELIGHTED in watching my surprise as i spotted it and picked it up and held it like it was a lost treasure.
