our weekends this fall are basically going to look like this: lots of soccer and football games with as much family time and time with friends squeezed around it as possible.
and we did just that this weekend!
lincoln has soccer practice from 6-7 pm on fridays. just he and i went. it was nice! i brought a book - CRAZYtown!
we came home to pizza and movie night well underway. everyone was T.I.R.E.D. so it was an early night.
saturday we had 2 football games and 2 soccer games. and were having my sister, her husband and some friends of theirs over for dinner. so, every minute i got in between games, i prepped for dinner. i didn't keep it simple. or easy. or cheap. i just read this book, "Bread and Wine" by Shauna Niequist and it spurred me on to create something beautiful of the evening we were going to have together. i made ALL new recipes (except for dessert) which was risky, but, thankfully, it worked out! there were sauces and glazes and homemade dressing...it was really fun for me! and this was just the prep!
a quote from Bread and Wine: "But if the last few years have taught me anything at all, it's that the very things you think you need most desperately are the things that can transform you the most profoundly when you do finally decide to release them." wow, right??
lincoln got to be captain of his team - his first soccer game! he loved it!
and sawyer loved his first game, also!
i got no pictures of our actual evening together- we were just enjoying. but it was beautiful. and fun. and yummy! they all wanted to see the kids, but then they were quickly sent to the basement to watch a show and then they went to bed (i fed them earlier). we ate on the porch with the christmas lights on that are strung out there and candles flickering. it was so fun to just be adults!
the appetizers to munch on until the kids went to bed...
sunday is a day of rest around here. which, for the next few months, means lots of football :-) it's fine with me. and when i can't stand it anymore, i can always find someone to go play outside with me or go for a walk!
joshua's first year with a fantasy football team...he is loving it!
and here we are, the beginning of another week. for 5 days sawyer asked me to replace the batteries in this car. i finally did it this morning :/ i hate that. but it teaches them patience, right??
