brown boy hair and skin

i've had quite a few people ask what i use on our brown boys' hair and skin. for those that haven't had much experience with brown skin and hair - it's just a lot drier than lighter skin. and, just like "white" skin - different people are less or more dry. lincoln's skin is MUCH drier than levi's skin.

i'm sure there are WAY better things to use. but we are simple and cheap and this works for us!

in the bath, i use the same baby soap/shampoo to wash them as i use on sawyer for both lincoln and levi's skin. i use this same soap/shampoo on lincoln's hair EVERY time (they get a bath every other day...usually...) for levi's hair, i wash it with the suave kids shampoo once a week. the other times, i just don't even get it wet (but it's not a big deal if it gets wet while he's in there...i just don't dump cups of water on his hair.)

after their bath, i put the vaseline conditioning lotion on every inch of their skin. i do this EVERY time for lincoln. not necessarily every time for levi - his skin just isn't as dry. it depends on how quickly i want them in bed ;-) in the summer, i will also put this on them in the mornings (their skin seems drier in the summer?? maybe all the chlorine?)

for lincoln's hair - i don't put anything else on it.

for levi's hair - i put straight conditioner on it. rub it in in huge glops like you would gel or something. his hair is so dry, it just absorbs the conditioner! then i use that brush to brush it out. it's not cheap, but that brush has been AWESOME for his hair. it doesn't hurt as much as other brushes, and it really gets to the root of his hair and pulls it out.

that's it! as i said, i'm sure there are MUCH better products out there. but this works for us. let me know if you have any questions! or, if you have products you love, feel free to put them in the comments for others to read!

We love the Tangle Teezer! Have you tried the Hair Bean? We have used that too and like it. They have them on clearance on the Bed Bath and Beyond website for $5:
