what a weekend!!!

i LOVE LOVE LOVE 3 day weekends! why can't they all be like that?!?

we had a great one. i made a FUN afterschool snack - a twist on caramel apples -- smores apples! dipped in marshmallow, then chocolate, then crushed graham crackers.
also, just because i love him, i made pat this cake. chocolate cake with peanut butter icing and lots of reese's peanut butter cups on it. :-)

 friday night, pat and i got to go to a 60feet documentary showing. we saw some people we loved there. met shelley and dan owens! and heard about all that they have done and are doing. it was a blessing for sure!
after my long (11 1/2 miles!) run on saturday, i worked a little on prepping for dinner that night, and then the girls and i played with our hair...to see how we might want to do it for hannah's wedding! i'm not showing you the ones we decided on...but these were fun, too!

 next up: joshua's football game. he has an hour practice followed by a game. these pics are actually from last sat (that i never put up here). this weekends game was cold and windy and i didn't bring my camera. lincoln and i missed the practice/picnic lunch part because we had to go order him new glasses. he broke them at school on friday. not an accident. just took them off, and decided to break them in half. :-/ missing out on the "fun" of a picnic lunch was a good consequence for him!
 joshua's team stinks. but he LOVES football, HE is doing great, and it's a good lesson to be on a team that never wins (at least that's what we keep telling him!)

 then...the girls and i went to meet hannah (and my parents!) to try on her dress one last time! (and to learn how to bustle it!) ahh...she is SO gorgeous in it!!! 3 weeks!!!

 see how tight my dad is squeezing her??? she is her daddy's girl...my dress has pockets. i think i'll have kleenexes for her, me AND my dad! :-)
we rushed home for a FUN family night! homemade tortillas, beef brisket and mango bbq sauce and brie...and watched "the parent trap" together.

 as the day wore on, rebekah started complaining about her throat...and eventually stopped talking it hurt so bad. SO...after church on sunday (we left her home) i took her to urgent care. 3 HOURS LATER (!!!!) her strep test came back negative. but he said her throat looked AWFUL - white spots, tonsils almost touching, definitely infected...so he gave her an antibiotic anyways.
 ended the day with a double date with friends!! so fun!!! {and AWESOME to have a kid old enough to babysit! even if she doesn't feel great! she still wanted to!}

today we went apple picking for the first time ever! it was so fun. went to the simplest little orchard. FREE to get in and park. you just pay for what you pick.

 it was COLD!!! 45 degrees! it's been 70s and 80s up until now!

 the apples QUICKLY turned into footballs :-)

 we are BOTH much happier today :-)
 a CRAZY life we lead...but so glad to do it with him by my side!
 um. LOVE this one!!

 and they were done...but proof that i was there :-)

during rest time, pat took the older 3 bowling. {i don't do bowling. i hate it. i don't know what. always have.} and i started getting ready for the week ahead...it's going to be a wild one. {really. what week isn't?}

finished off the evening introducing new chores for everyone (i think that was their favorite part ;-))
 and having a meal that officially switches us from summer to fall: burgers and french fries, with apple pie for dessert! {i don't like pie. but my family sure did!!!}
i feel like i spent most of the weekend in the kitchen. it was by choice. and an act of love for pat. he loves me so well, i'm really trying to do "those little things" that i so often don't do to show him i love him so very much and treasure who he is.

going to spend a lot of this week at dr appts - nothing awful, just normal check-ups, MORE post-adoption paperwork stuff, etc.

AND doing some fun projects for THE wedding!!! :-)

and doing homework, making 24 meals a day, laundry...you know. all that normal stuff that i'm tempted to complain about, but really? i'm thankful. i have the energy, health and means to do it all. so bring it on!

{first...a couple more hours of our WONDERFUL 3 day weekend with that man i love! :-)}

What a great weekend! I'm still thinking about the cake with Reese's PB cups all over! YUM!
Our family visited a really cool Pumpkin Patch - it was rainy and cold and gray but a lot of fun. Zip Line, Pumpgun, Corn Maze, Bouncing Pillow, Adult-sized trikes... Pictures on davidandtobi.blogspot.com :) Have a great week!

Christian's on a soccer team that stinks. Even his coach stinks which is tough because I really feel like telling him to stop listening to his coach and just get the ball and score...but I won't tell him that. I think the Lord is teaching me a lot about submitting to authority through the ridiculous coach we ended up with. Thankfully Christian thinks it's fun :)
