but the whole time, it really could have gone either way. at any moment it could have flipped to ugly. truthfully, that's how most moments feel in my life. ON THE EDGE.
but, i'm thankful that it was truly a fun afternoon and evening!
after we unpacked from school, etc, rebekah had a "halloween party" for us!
she had made it all up yesterday...during one of those times when i said, "can you guys just DO something on your OWN?" i'm sure i said it all sweet and kind....
they started out decorating paper bags with markers and stickers.
then they got to go door to door (to the bedroom doors) and say, "trick or treat!"
then a bag of candy was dropped from the top bunk...
and, lastly, a single piece of gum was hidden in the basement. lincoln found it.
then we got their costumes on.
cowgirl, fireman, football player, nascar driver, pippi longstocking (she just DOES those expressions. i say, "smile!" and that's what she does!) and another fireman.
i really try not to BUY costumes. to just use what we have. the only thing i bought was rebekah's hat. and i think it's an investment...because every house needs a cowboy hat, right??
we went to chipotle and got $2 burritos!! (with the rest of our town!!!) now we have dinner for tomorrow night, too! those burritos are HUGE!
pat took the kids out while i handed out the candy. levi was brought back to me quickly and we hung out on the porch with a big bowl of candy and a heater! it was so fun to sit there with him! he's so talkative one on one..and hysterical when people come up!
