the 5k!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we trained for this for 12 or so weeks.
3 days a week. 30ish minutes each time. 6 kids...some running (and drama!) and some on bikes or in strollers. in rain, 100+ degree temps.
it was NOT easy. but they did it and yesterday was the BIG day!

this was the night before...our shoes ready to go with the timing chips!
the before picture...
it was the PERFECT race. in our town. a REAL race (not a kids race). had a few hundred people running - not too many, not too few. PERFECT weather!

stretching beforehand...
{no, 3 miles wasn't enough for me. i got up at 5:30 and ran 8 miles before getting us all ready for the race}

my parents spent the night and then came with us to watch the 3 little boys so that pat and i could BOTH run with rebekah, joshua and bailey.
i got bailey duty :-) she smiled a lot. we had to take a potty break. and then she started singing "party rock" - i guess she felt a lot better!! she NEVER stopped running. that girl is amazing.
pat got joshua duty. joshua was on FIRE. got faster and faster as they ran the 3.1 miles. he is unbelievable!
rebekah started with pat and joshua, and then kept her pace when they got faster. so she was between pat and i. and my parents were cheering us on at the halfway point! she did great!!!

halfway done!!!!
almost there!!! my parents missed pat and joshua finishing because they were so fast!
she's done!!

waiting and watching for bailey and i...
yay!!
i had to use some SERIOUS self control to not burst into tears when we crossed the finish line. i was overcome with emotion. it was a LOT of blood, sweat and tears and hours this summer to get us to this point. a HUGE accomplishment! i gave a LOT of myself to get to this finish line. it felt amazing. and i could tell THEY felt amazing!!
after...
the results:
joshua - 26:40, 8:36 avg
rebekah - 30:49, 9:56 avg
bailey - 34:34, 11:09 avg

SO SO proud of ALL of them!!!

I still can't imagine running a 5k, let alone doing yard work afterwards!

Way to go!
