morning at the farm

after running and getting everyone up and to their respective schools, and doing school with sawyer, and doing insanity, and doing step 3 of step ?? in making some cake balls for a bake sale this weekend, and taking a shower and packing our lunch, we headed to the farm for the morning! {we left the house at 9:38 am}

side note: this farm is not OURS. i know we refer to it like it is, but it's a farm we belong to. i've had multiple people assume that it's ours...we do not own a farm :-)
i didn't look at my watch for a LONG time. so unlike me. and it felt so good!
"come on, levi!"
these 2 are so cute together...most of the time. unless sawyer is attacking him. or unless levi is in his shell...ever since the older kids went back to school, he's had some issues...hoping they clear up soon! i want my levi back!!

so, we've been members of this farm for YEARS. and i've NEVER gone down the double barrel slide...i've always been in charge of a baby, or pregnant. not today!! :-)
can you see sawyer at the bottom??

lunch!
man...i love it out there! it was so nice to get out there this morning and just enjoy sawyer and levi!

i feel like i live 2 different lives - my "morning" life is so enjoyable and do-able, my "afternoon" life is so challenging and crazy and by about 8:14 pm i feel like i've been through the ringer. which is when i want to be able to listen and engage with pat...but i'm DONE and i hate that! so...i'm really trying to keep my mornings as calm and uncommitted as possible for 2 reasons: first, it gives me GOOD time with sawyer and levi because they SURE don't get any quality time once the afternoon hits! and second, it helps me store up the patience, strength, wisdom i'm going to need for later in the day. it doesn't always happen or work, but i'm committed to doing what i can to give EVERYONE in my family what they need.

I miss that farm so much. Nothing here in our new town like it. I hear ya on the afternoon/bedtime wringer routine. I'm right there with ya. I've found talking to Henry while he's getting ready for work is the best time of our day together. By the time he works a 12 hour day and I've put the kids to bed neither of us have much energy.

You have done a whole day's work by 9:38 AM!! I notice that about myself. When I have my "Low-key, down" days, I do more than many do on their busy days. This is the life we live, right? When I do have an "easy" day, I almost don't know what to do with myself!!

I am having to really monitor myself and protect my days, too, in order to be what my husband and kids need in the afternoon and evening.

I did horribly at this in Sept., but Oct. is a new month and I have set some boundaries for myself.

Oh, how I wish we could spend a morning with our littles together. Please come to CO, at least for a visit?!?!
