"mom, i NEED to go back to africa"

the other day, bailey came up to me, grabbed my arm and pulled herself in close and said,
"mom, i NEED to go back to africa."

i said, "bailey, i do, too. one day...one day..."

i don't know what it is about it, but i think about it all the time.
some people grow up hoping God won't send them to Africa. i hope He will.

i will get back there one day.

a friend recently went on a trip to uganda and sent me this bracelet (isn't it cool?? made out of coffee beans and watermelon seeds!) and i've been wearing it almost every day. whether it matches or not. it just makes me feel closer to africa. i'm not sure why i have the need to feel closer to a continent that i've only spent 3 weeks of my life, but i do. a logical reason would be because 2 of my son's were born there. but it's not that, either.

whatever the reason, it's a deep yearning in my heart and i hope and pray that i get to step foot on that red dirt again one day..soon...and maybe take bailey with me :-)
