day 1 of our "i am thankful" project

new project. and i think it has GREAT potential.
again, posting as we start something, so it could be horrible. we'll see!

remember the book we were supposed to be going through?
well, we're not really.
we're stuck on being THANKFUL. and we're making progress! so, we're going to stick with it!
{the book is GREAT. i'm just going with where i think our hearts need to be focused. and we're hanging out on "being thankful" for awhile...}

i glanced at a disposable camera the other day and the number "27" jumped out at me - the number of exposures it had. you guys, this is how my brain works. in less than 10 seconds this whole idea was formed.

i ordered each kid a WATERPROOF disposable camera from my addiction - amazon. i hope that the benefits outweigh the cost here! (not terribly expensive, but not cheap either!)

during our teaching time at lunch today, we talked...again...about being thankful. and also about JOYFULNESS and the difference between happy and joyful. and how if we're thankful...joyful kind of just happens. and if we're joyful...thankful kind of just happens. they go together. and God created and loves them both.

i explained our new project. they get to take 1 picture each day of something they are thankful for. they each have a paper taped to our dining room wall with the numbers 1 to 25 on it. after they take the picture, they go to the paper and write down the thing they are thankful for that they just took a picture of. at the end, once we develop the pictures, we'll make books with them. i'm doing it, too! (but with my own camera ;-))

i'm hopeful that this will turn our hearts to be THANKFUL more quickly! and, oh, how i wish you could have seen their faces when i pulled those cameras out! it was like christmas morning!
