morning with sawyer

i had some sweet hours with sawyer on wednesday.
my mom took lincoln and levi for me {read more about HER amazing time here!}
she took them to her work. but it's not just her work. it's a christian school that is IN the church that i grew up in (and that they still go to.) and it's the christian school that i taught 2nd grade in before i became a mom. the people there watched me grow up, watched me get married there, watched me become a mom almost 11 years ago...and prayed these 2 little boys home last year! so, it was a SPECIAL day for us all!!!

almost exactly a year ago i took sawyer out for a fun morning, just the 2 of us, right before we left for africa. i thought my heart would BURST because we were leaving him. and it did. but i survived...barely.

my mom and i met in a parking lot and sawyer and i got to take papa's FUN car for the morning!!! he LOVED this {he's TOTALLY into "cool" cars!}

driving to our first stop - smoothies! {can you tell we were BOTH happy?!?}

next stop - Burke Lake Park - they have this train you can ride!

i was reminded who sawyer truly is.
he's a lot like joshua. calmness exudes from him.
he thinks. and then he asks a question.
he thinks about those around him.
{he's different from joshua, too. MUCH more silly!}

he makes me laugh.

and to watch him ponder and take it in was such a gift to me.

after we rode the train, we sat and ate a picnic lunch. and talked about bugs and squirrels. :-)

i will hold the time we had together close to my heart. it was so fun!!!
