i took these 3 adorable children out for a fun day yesterday. pat's parents took the 3 little boys for the day, so i had the 3 older ones! i was SO excited for a fun day together!
we bought a couple things at target for levi's birthday. i let them bring their wallets and they bought a couple things. they argued.
we putt-putted. they argued.
i'm clinching my teeth, but you probably can't tell.
they got to pick a lunch place. i bought them lunch. they argued.
by the time we got home after lunch, after numerous times of trying to TALK them out of their behavior, i pulled the, "i'm done with you. do whatever you want. i'm going to read/make my grocery list/etc". secretly hoping they'd feel my sadness and snap out of it. nope. went on their merry way...arguing all along!
we eventually had to get ready to go to their swim meet. so i had to feed them again. and talk to them. and encourage them (bailey was afraid she was going to drown.) but inside i was SO discouraged. i'm sure part of it (ok. a lot of it) was my expectations weren't met for the day. those darn expectations. but, i also was just SAD for their behavior. for the way they were treating each other. i know they are kids and sinners and aren't going to be perfect. but i'm not settling for that mess. we have a lot to work on!
trying to gain perspective, figure out how to tackle the issues, and let my emotions go. i can't control them. i can teach them, encourage them, and spur them on. but after that? it's up to them...oh, being a mom. what a ride!

arguing is the new whining around here.
I can almost stand whining now because it happens so little but the arguing tips me off the edge every time.
tell me how you fix it when you do... we are having a lot of that around here. seems to be every other day. i can only take so much before i run and hide too.
Um, so I feel like we lead parallels lives. : ) So hard to figure this one out!! Especially during the summer when everyone is together so much more. Hanging in there with you!
