friday night was the 5th grade graduation party.
rebekah has been looking forward to it for MONTHS.
talking about it. wondering about it.
when i had my "day" with her a few weeks ago, we bought this shirt. and decided she could wear it with something she had.
the day before i asked her what she was going to wear with it.
she said, "just my jean shorts. other friends are wearing skirts and stuff, but i just want to wear jean shorts."
the day itself ended up being pretty crazy. the kids were held at dismissal that afternoon because there was a tornado warning. they came out totally freaked out...well, the girls were, joshua was not. the storms continued all afternoon and rebekah was nervous about being at the school if something happened.
she asked me to do her nails that afternoon. alternating blue and yellow.
i asked her if she wanted me to do her hair. she said, no. she just wanted to wear it down.
i love that she wanted to just be herself!
she had a great time. i'm so proud of who she is.
she has 4 more days of elementary school...and i have no doubt that she's ready for the next step!
but, first, i get to spend the summer with her! :-)

Okay, simply tears....of JOY and amazement at how beautiful she is inside and out. She looks so grown up and beautiful! Realizing...and remembering....how it feels to have a child who is stepping from childhood into womanhood...understanding your mom's heart. Rebekah ~ a JOY in all our lives! Love you Courtney.
Oh my goodness....how is she already starting middle school??? If that's how I feel, I can only imagine how you're feeling! She is blessed to be your daughter. :)
So beautiful! And especially that last photo of her with the gorgeous smile! She actually reminded me of you a lot in that one too...
