diy jewelry holder !!!

i am in love.
i have seen jewelry holders made out of big frames around...on blogs...on pinterest.

i wanted one. even though i wear the same jewelry every day.
i still have other jewelry that i love or that is special and if i SEE it maybe i'll wear it more??

i took this frame that my aunt gave me when pat and i had been married a couple years.
it was in HER basement after hanging on HER walls for years. she passed it onto us.

it has hung on our walls for the last 12 or so years.
it was currently in our guest room in the basement. not anymore!

i took the print out. took the glass out.

spray painted it white (had that in my stash!)
i ordered the cork from amazon. i LOVE the darker color! it even came with little sticky tabs. i cut it with scissors.

i did all of that one afternoon after homework was done and while the kids were playing outside.
took me MAX 1 hour.

then i let it sit until the next afternoon (to let the paint dry!)

here was my previous jewelry storage situation:
jewelry box with things i never wear.
necklaces (mostly from africa) that i wear sometimes hanging on the lighted garland that is up year round because i just LOVE lighted garland and sometimes turn it on at night!

{yes, that is a demarcus ware from the Dallas Cowboys jersey hanging on our bedroom wall. i love my husband, yes i do!}
i might have squealed when i hung it on the wall. !!!
this was afternoon #2. i let the girls help me. the boys were banned from the room :-)
the girls got all the jewelry i didn't want (they did a beautiful job splitting it. which was kind of funny, since they share a room and inherited my jewelry box and all the jewelry is going in the same place anyways!)
i just used pushpins to hang the necklaces on the cork.
i put my braclets and rings in the little containers (that are from rwanda!)
i have a "thing" for necklaces from africa. i love each and every one SO SO much!

i will be playing around with the placement for a little bit. but this is good for now! isn't it happy to look at??
i put my earrings in the lunchbox.
the lunch box was purchased at a yard sale a few years ago for $.50.
i bought it because it was full of little army men.
the price tag is still on it. and i love that!
{kind of weird that my dresser has been in the last 2 post for 2 different reasons!}

i LOVE my new jewelry holder! and pat even noticed it when he got home and said he LIKED it! bonus!

I need to do something crafy....BAD.

been teaching an art class for 5th & 6th graders all year (plus my own girls) and it's been suckin' my craftiness all away.

co-op is done.
now I need to do something grown up!

I think I have a frame I could do that with. I have a good storage solution for earrings (which I love), but not the greatest one for necklaces.

Pinterest and blogs like yours are so inspiring! It's like my "let's TRY this and if it doesn't work, then no big deal" as been rejuvenated! I love your jewelry organizer- very clever of you and you did it so quickly!

Awesome! Love it when a DIY project turns out as good as it looked in your head. ;)

So pretty! I just realized I'm 'behind' on your blog. :)

I did this years ago when I realized I had more necklaces I loved then days to wear them. Except instead of the cork board I just wrapped material around the cardboard that came in the back of the frames. I have changed the color twice. Also, I did it to three frames so they can hang together. About two years after I did it, I saw it in a fancy magazine.
