he has a gift

this is my brother, steve.
have i ever told you about his gift?!?
God gave him the most AMAZING gift of music. seriously.

he can hear a song on the radio, come home, and play it. on the piano. guitar. drums. {probably other things...that's all i've experienced!} and he's NEVER taken lessons on those things! {well, maybe a few here and there, but NOTHING like what he can do!}

he is very talented. and i'm super proud of him.

he's in a band. to get him talking about playing music and his band is one of the my favorite things - because he just LOVES it. they have been playing more and more shows (they are going on a little tour next week! cleveland, buffalo, ican'tremembertherest...) and i wish they would catch a little break and make a little money (they basically break even...after paying for gas, food, equipment) but, even if they don't, they keep doing it because they LOVE it! and i love that for him.

he stopped by yesterday to bring me one of their new shirts. isn't it a fun color?!?
when they make it big, you can say you heard about them here first! ;-)

go get 'em, funkmnkyz!!!

Henry's mom is like this. It's amazing. I've seen her play a flute, clarinet, violin, harp, french horn.... and she's only had lessons as a child on the piano and maybe tuba (i know she played tuba well enough to get a scholarship so I'm guessing she had lessons, but i'm not sure!). I love listening to her play. Henry sat down and played a hymn on a cello the other and I asked him if it was anything like the violin (he had one year of violin in the 6th grade). He said NO!! NO? Yet, he picked out a song like he knew where his fingers should just go. This blows my mind.

Love that your brother brings such joy to others around him with his gift and that he enjoys it so much too. I think that's part of the gift... being able to enjoy it yourself. :)
