i made a handful of these last january. i didn't want to post about them until i had used it for awhile to make sure the idea really stuck (and because i gave the rest as gifts this christmas and i didn't want them to see it and make it before i could give it to them!)
basically, you write down 1 little or big thing that happens each day. then move the card to the back for the next day. but, the FUN, precious, amazing part is that after a year (or 2 or 5) you see what happened on that day in previous years.
for example, yesterday...
and then i got to add:
"2012: the day lincoln REALLY hugged me"
january 4 is a pretty special day, huh??
many of the days say things like, "went to library" "pat came home early" "cleaned the bathrooms" - not everything is monumental! just something to remember that day - it also helps give you perspective on your day to think back over it.
i won't go into the step by step - you can find it here.
it wasn't hard. a little time-consuming. i bought the holders online (search for fruit baskets) and the stamp on amazon.
i keep mine on my kitchen windowsill. i typically write on it while i'm cleaning up after dinner.
and can i just say how happy my windowsill makes me??
from left:
just replaced the picture in the frame with a picture of pat. happy.
pat got me an ihome to go with the kids ipad. it plays my music LOUD! which i LOVE! mostly i play the same 2 songs over and over - you love me anyway by sidewalk prophets and the world version of how great is our god by chris tomlin. over and over and over. happy.
my perpetual calendar. happy.
a lego calendar that my parents gave joshua and he and i made together - just the 2 of us - over christmas break. usually he wants pat to do his lego's with him. he asked me to do this one. happy.
medicine bottles. safe from little hands.
plate thing i write things on. "COME ON SNOW!" we need some snow around here. :-) happy.

I love this , totally doing it
I love this too. And I guess you can make it as you go...you can also handprint the date to make it simpler. I wish I had this when my children were babies. What a quick, simple way to document the amazing things they did daily. Oh well. Never too late to start. Thank you.
Yes, this is super neat. Thanks for the idea!
crazy those two things happened exactly a year apart. so cool!
i need your phone number. henry got me the iPhone too. we could face time each other!! ha! i love the calendar idea. :)
Love this! Starting mine today!
Love that calendar idea! I also got the iHome for Christmas and love it! I usually put on a Pandora station. Right now my favorite is an oldies station.
