it makes sense somehow

it's been a long week. like, really long.

the kind where, if i had the energy to think back on it, all i would remember is correcting children for the same thing over and over, only seeing pat in bed because one of us had a meeting every night, and all my good intentions to eat well and look my kids in the eye when they talk were not met.

i hardly slept last night because of the cold that is trying to take over my body. {it will not}

pat has another meeting tonight. the thought of another LLLOOONNNNGGG afternoon and evening inside while it's 2 degrees outside and making and feeding and cleaning up dinner and baths and putting them to bed all just seems like too much.

i had to come up with a plan. and this somehow made sense to me when i came up with it.

getting the 3 little boys up early from their naps so that we can pick up the 3 big kids from school in the "car riders" line (normally i walk up to the school and pick them up). leave from there to drive to another STATE (it sounds more dramatic than it is - but i feel like being dramatic) in rush hour traffic on a friday afternoon to go to a children's museum. by myself. with 6 kids. this museum normally costs $13/person. which means we would NEVER go there. BUT. one night a month, it's only $2/person from 4-7 pm! and it's tonight!

so, i have to go pack snacks for the way up there.
and pack dinner for on the way home.
{my life would be SO much easier if they would just stop eating :-)}

this could go either way...a total disaster, or a fun memory.

but, after this week? i'm willing to flip the coin and see what we get!

{oh. AND we have a winter storm on the way. hoping it holds off a few hours...}

This sounds exactly like something I would do. I've totally taken the kids to Hagerstown (1.5 hrs away) for dinner with my mom and back in one night so I don't have to be alone in the house with the kids one more night!! Which Children's Museum are you going to?

You should pick up some grapefruit seed extract to help you fight off the cold. I started using it when I feel like I might be getting something or when everyone around me seems to be sneezing and coughing, and so far, I haven't gotten a cold this season. And just remember....your expectations are way higher than those of your children. They'll have fun no matter what...just because you're doing something different and together.

I would much rather be out of the house with something to do with the kids than stuck at home breaking up disagreements, and trying to entertain. Once I have had a week like yours, I need the time to pass quickly!! That is the best way to do it. Hope it went well!!

I get the food thing. I am so tired of being asked for food ALL.THE.TIME!!
