t minus 45 minutes

the kids school does a "holiday sing along" the last day of school before break.

{this stupid bar was in the way...boo}
can you see bailey? she's got her whole row swaying back and forth to the music. of course she does.
rebekah had a few lines! it was a big deal. big. she did great!

pat wouldn't have missed it for the world. ;-)
not sure where the show was...on stage or in our laps!
and they will be home in 45 minutes. for 12 days.

i'm excited. and nervous.
i want to be fun. and intentional. but stay sane and calm.
ridiculous expectations? probably.
but i want to ENJOY them all.

and, underneath it all, a friend that is WAY too young is dying. and it pretty much makes anything else seem ridiculous to worry about. so i'm not going to. worry that is. but i can't stop crying and praying. please pray for their sweet family.

merry christmas?? what do those words even mean??

Christ came BECAUSE this world was (is) broken. dying. we NEEDED Him. He came and He died a brutal death for our sakes. "merry" isn't really the word i would choose. maybe i'm going to research this a bit...hmmm...anyone have any insight??

ok. i don't have time to be thinking. off to run around in circles for the next 30 (ahh!) minutes!

I've got a friend...my age....going through chemo right now. I cry everytime I think of it. Cancer is so brutal - so unfair. It's given me great perspective this Christmas. Praying for your friend.

Merry because Christ is the GOOD NEWS, the HOPE, for this broken world... for THIS broken girl. Merry because he came at Christmas (well, at least that's when we celebrate it). Merry because finally we don't have to follow a set of rules or measure up because he does that for us. It is impossible to have the crucifixion without a birth. And it is impossible for the resurrection without death. Merry Christmas because it means the hope of the world has arrived. Thank the Lord Jesus He came! (p.s. I have no idea where the saying originated, this is my own response to your question)
